Recognized as a global strategic retail and brand marketing expert, Doug Zarkin has led the transformation of Pearle Vision’s global strategic marketing, e-commerce, visual merchandising, product promotion, and store design functions. His work is currently the subject of a Harvard Business case study on brand rejuvenation. Doug has earned an impressive array of honors for his marketing and brand building work, including the Silver Clio Award, El Sol Award, Effie Award for Health Care Services Marketing (twice), WWD’s Best Executed Launch Strategy Award, the American Legacy’s Silver Halo Award for Cause Related Marketing, and the Bulldog Drummond Social Media Award for Best Social Media Platform.


Alexis Cardona – Former Senior VP Marketing, Aspen Dental

With 24 years of experience, Alexis is a global marketer with a passion for building world-class marketing functions that strengthen businesses and brands that delight consumers and stakeholders. Most recently, Alexis served as Sr. Vice President of Marketing for Aspen Dental Management, Inc., a fast-growing $1.3B dental health services organization with almost 700 offices in 38 states. There, he spearheaded brand strategy and consumer marketing efforts, helping reverse a 3-year negative trend and achieving the highest new customer counts, grand opening demand and revenue/EBITDA growth in brand history. Formerly, he was global Chief Marketing Officer for Transitions Optical Inc., where he reinvented the global brand strategy, innovation portfolio and omni-channel execution to drive record sales, profit and category expansion. Alexis’ career includes fifteen years at Procter & Gamble leading multiple brands and categories across various regions, driving both front-end innovation and delivery while establishing shopper marketing, multicultural marketing and global brand franchise models within the company.



Jo Ann Herold – CMO, The Honey Baked Ham Co.

Jo Ann is a purpose-driven executive and brings more than 25 years of marketing experience. Jo Ann is currently serving as the CMO of The Honey Baked Ham Company. Formerly, she was the Chief Marketing Officer for Interface, Inc. Prior to Interface, she was Vice President of Brand Marketing and Public Relations at Arby’s Restaurant Group resulting in a brand turnaround and 13 quarters of same sale growth. Prior to Arby’s, she spent 16 years at HoneyBaked Ham, where she served as Vice President of Marketing and then Chief Marketing Officer. She was recognized in 2018 for the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Marketing Association in Atlanta.


Clay Dunn – Senior VP, No Kid Hungry

Clay leads brand and media strategy initiatives for the No Kid Hungry campaign. He oversees all public relations, digital platforms, design, and storytelling responsibilities while inspiring others to join the fight to end childhood hunger in America. His teams’ work has been widely recognized, winning PR Week’s Nonprofit Campaign of the Year (2015), Blackbaud’s Impact Award for Best Multi-Channel Fundraising Campaign (2014), PR Daily’s Best Advocacy and Awareness Campaign (2014), the Social Media Leadership Award from Knowledge at Wharton (2013), and multiple Telly awards.


Episode 105: Dana Paris & Chris Tomasso

Dana Paris – CMO, SkinFix

Dana joined the new SkinFix executive team as Chief Marketing Officr in May of 2018. Previously, she had worked at Vogue International as CMO and developed the global marketing vision and strategy for several brands under their portfolio – namely OGX and Maui Moisture. She was a key member of the management team that led the sales process of Vogue International to Johnson & Johnson in 2016 for $3.3 billion. She has worked in CPG Brand Strategy and Marketing for the past seventeen years with a focus in beauty and was awared the 2017 Top Talent Award by the Cosmetic Executive Women’s Organization.


Chris Tomasso – President & CEO, First Watch Restaurant Group

Chris first joined First Watch in 2006 as its first Chief marketing Officer when the company had only about 60 restaurants in 9 states. N 2015, he was named President and took on additional responsibilities including overseeing all aspects of the company’s operations while also joining the company’s Board of Directors. Prior to First Watch, Tomasso served as VP of Marketing for Cracker Barrel Old Country Store and also previously held a VP of Worldwide Marketing title for Hard Rock Café International. In 2018, he took on an additional role as CEO of First Watch.

Jill Geer – CMO, USA Track & Field

A former award-winning sports writer and news editor, Jill Geer currently is CMO at USA Track & Field (USATF), the national governing body for the sport. A member of USATF’s executive team since 2000, in 2012 she assumed oversight of USATF’s newly created integrated marketing and communications department, with responsibility for the planning, development and execution of USATF’s marketing, sponsorship, communications, branding, crisis management and community outreach initiatives. In her role, she has led an organizational rebrand, tripled USATF’s social media presence and reach, and sold more than $5M in sponsorship while serving as the organization’s spokesperson and advisor to the CEO and board of directors.


Geoff Colon – Head of Brand Studio, Microsoft Advertising

He is Head of Brand Studio at Microsoft Advertising, where he develops innovative concepts as a form of business development and collaboration with partners. Steve Glum is a highly-accomplished big-brand marketing specialist and content creation expert, building some of the most prominent and dynamic entertainment, lifestyle, attractions, resorts and restaurant brands in the world. His career spans marketing and branding leadership with Walt Disney World Resort, Disney’s Pleasure Island, Hard Rock Cafe, House of Blues, Ripley’s Believe It or Not!, Great Wolf Lodge Indoor Waterpark Resort, and Ace Cafe, among others. Steve most recently held the reins of Chief Marketing Officer for Ace Cafe North America – the group responsible for bringing the first Ace Cafe to the USA – a position he presided over for five years, handling every single detail of the US brand introduction and location launch in Orlando, FL. Earlier in his career, Steve held marketing positions at House of Blues, The Walt Disney Company, and Pleasure Island. Steve earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Stetson University, and post-graduate from the IAAPA Institute for Executive Education at The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.


Jeff Perkins – ParkMobile

Jeff Perkins is Chief Marketing Officer of ParkMobile, the leading provider in mobile parking solutions. Prior to ParkMobile, Jeff was the CMO of QASymphony where he helped establish the brand and grow revenue 500% over a three-year period. He also has held senior marketing leadership positions at PGi and AutoTrader.com. Jeff started his career grinding it out in the NYC ad industry at Saatchi & Saatchi. His experiences range from traditional to digital, B2C to B2B, and agency-side to client-side. Jeff received his BA from American University and MBA from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School. He is a frequent contributor to several marketing publications and a speaker at many industry events. When he’s not working, you might find him riding his Peloton bike or attending a Bruce Springsteen concert (he’s been to 26 so far). He lives in Atlanta with his awesome wife, two adorable daughters (ages 7 and 10) and two hyper puppies.

Chad Waetzig – Crunch Fitness

With nearly 30 years of experience in the industry, Chad is a marketing leader with experience in branded consumer products and services. He is an innovative strategist proficient in positioning, lifestyle branding, new initiative development, marketing communications, and team building. Diverse skills include classical packaged goods expertise, experiential marketing, and financial management capabilities. Chad is the EVP of Marketing and Branding for Crunch Fitness – which has over 300 locations across the country. His past positions held have been with several major national brands, including but not limited to Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, Starwood Hotels and Resorts, Marriott International, and Procter and Gamble. Chad is a graduate of The University of Kansas where he earned a B.S. in Business Administration with a strong focus on marketing and finance.


Casey Hurbis – Quicken Loans

Casey Hurbis is the Chief Marketing Officer for Quicken Loans. In this role, Casey leads both online and traditional marketing initiatives, while driving new, innovative strategies to captivate the audience of the nation’s most trusted and second largest home lending brand. Casey joins the Quicken Loans family after 24 years in marketing, most recently leading advertising and communications for FIAT, where he made a splash by helping to successfully reintroduce the FIAT brand to the U.S. market. Equally important to his brand-building efforts is Casey’s work with, and dedication to, several local and national charities. Three charities particularly close to his heart are the Special Olympics, the Salvation Army and Bethany Christian Adoption Services. In addition to his community efforts, he serves on the Board of Directors for Adcraft Detroit. Casey, his wife and two children reside in metro-Detroit. Casey is a graduate of Michigan State University, where he can be found every Fall cheering on his Spartans.
